Informix

Pre-requisites

Check the supported versions

DBmarlin supports versions of Informix from 14.10 and above. Please check the list of supported platforms before continuing and contact us if you are not sure.

Create a monitoring user with the correct permissions

Before adding a target Informix instance in the UI you should first create a dbmarlin user in the target database instance. Note you can choose to use a name other than dbmarlin if you prefer.

For Informix you can create a monitoring user at the operating system level as you would normally for Informix and then grant the following:

GRANT SELECT ON informix.sysfeatures TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.syssessions TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.sysrstcb TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.systcblst TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.syssqlstat TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.sysprofile TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.sysconfig TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.sysdatabases TO dbmarlin;
GRANT SELECT ON informix.syssscelem TO dbmarlin;

Collecting SQL Statistics

In order to collect executions counts at the SQL statement level and other SQL statistics you need to enable sql tracing if it isn't already enabled. You can set it to low which will do lightweight tracing suitable for production environments. Here are the steps to enable:

execute function task('set sql tracing on', 50000, 1, 'low', 'global');
GRANT SELECT ON informix.syssqltrace TO dbmarlin;

Adding the Database Target

This is done through the User Interface using the Add Database screen
