We are pleased to announce the release of DBmarlin 4.12, our final release of 2024. This version features revamped comparison reports and a new over-time chart on the Blocking Sessions screen.

Comparison Reports

The Time Comparison report has been renamed to Activity Comparison report and includes several fixes and improvements. Notably, the report now allows you to choose your two time ranges by selecting a Snapshot from the dropdown list. It also brings it into line with the SQL Stats Comparison report, which has also had some minor improvements.

You can also launch both comparison reports from the Event History screen, or on the Events tab under an instance. Clicking the Analyse button lets you choose how many minutes on either side of the event timestamp you wish to compare and select which of the two comparison reports you would like to launch. This can be a big time-saver when assessing the impact of a change, custom event, or alert.

Blocking Over Time

The Blocking Sessions screen now includes an over-time chart at the top, making it easier to visualise when blocking occurred. You can zoom into a specific period by selecting it on the chart, which will filter the list of blocking trees in the lower table to display only those that occurred during the selected timeframe.
